Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a shooting. On December 13, 2022, at approximately 7:50 p.m., Champaign Police were dispatched to the 900 block of West Beardsley Avenue in Champaign for a shooting with injuries. Upon arrival, officers located a 48-year-old male and a 28-year-old male, each with a single non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. Both victims were transported to an area hospital, where they were treated and released. Champaign Police are seeking assistance identifying a person of interest related to this investigation.

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a homicide.
On July 23, 2021, at 4:57 p.m., police officers responded to the 3000 block of Edward Hoffman Dr. in Champaign for a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located 26-year-old Jayvohn Foster with a single life-threatening gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

On December 6, 2022, at approximately 7:16 p.m., one female and two male subjects entered T-Mobile located at 61 East Marketview Drive in Champaign. The female approached the counter and asked to purchase five iPhones. Once the phones were retrieved from a locked cabinet, one male distracted an employee and grabbed the phones from the counter. The other male stood by holding the door open until they were all exiting the business. The suspects fled with the phones valued at $4,500.00.
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the subjects captured on video. The female appeared to be a black female, wearing a yellow cap, black coat, light-colored jeans, and orange shoes. The male suspects appeared to be black males. One male was wearing a black hat, gray sweatshirt, black pants and shoes. The second male was wearing a maroon sweatshirt, black pants, and black shoes.

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a burglary. Between January 17, 2023, at 2:30 P.M., and January 18, 2023, at 5:00 P.M., an unknown suspect(s) gained access into a storage garage in the 1600 block of Willow View Road in Urbana Township. Once inside, approximately 32 miscellaneous power tools were stolen, to include but not limited to, a hammer drill, circular saws, charging stations, drill sets and driver sets, framing nailers, trim gun, Sawzall, compact router, and wet/dry vacuum. The total estimated value of the stolen tools is over $11,000.00 dollars.

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a theft.
On January 10, 2023, at 6:30 PM, an individual approached a residence in the 1500 block of S. Smith Rd. in Urbana. The male suspect removed a delivery package from the victim’s porch and fled the scene on foot.
The suspect is described as a black male wearing a black knit stocking cap with white lettering on the front, a black zip up jacket, and blue jeans with holes in the knee. The incident was captured on the victim’s video doorbell. The stolen property in this case has not been recovered.

On September 4, 2022, at approximately 1:15 a.m., an unknown male asked the victim to follow him to another area inside Kam’s bar, located at 102 East Green Street in Champaign. The male then became aggressive and repeatedly pushed the female victim against a wall when she tried to leave. The victim was able to get away and the suspect left the area on foot.
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the subject captured on video. The suspect was described as a white male with brown hair, 5’10” tall, and had a slight European accent. He was last seen wearing a black shirt with a lion design on the front and back, khaki pants, and white shoes.

On January 3, 2023, at approximately 12:00 p.m., an unknown male entered the First Mid Bank & Trust located at 114 West Church Street in Champaign. The male presented a fake identification card and withdrew $8,800.00 from the victim’s account. The suspect left in an unknown direction.
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the subject captured on video. The subject appeared to be a white male with a receding hairline, and was last seen wearing a blue surgical mask, blue jacket, and light-colored pants.
Credit Union Attempted Robbery - Posted 01/17/23

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding an attempted robbery. On January 10, 2023, at approximately 3:03 p.m., a black male subject entered Champaign County Schools Employees Credit Union at 1203 South Mattis Avenue and demanded money. After being refused the subject fled the building without obtaining any money. Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the subject captured on video. The suspect appeared to be a black male wearing a face mask, black Nike sweatshirt, black pants, white shoes and a light purple wig.

this week, Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding criminal damage.
Between 5 pm on December 16 and 3:20 a.m. on December 17, 2022, an unknown suspect damaged eight air conditioning units located in the parking area at 202 E. Green St. in Champaign. Security cameras captured images of a person of interest in the area at the time of the crime. Police need your help identifying the subject captured on video. The subject is described as a middle-aged white male and was seen wearing a dark blue jacket, a grey or olive-green hooded sweatshirt, dark colored pants, and boots.
Theft and Credit Card Fraud in Champaign - Posted 01/03/2023

On December 9, 2022, at approximately 1:15 p.m., a male suspect stole a wallet from a purse while distracting a customer at Hobby Lobby, located at 2102 North Neil Street in Champaign. The male then used the victim’s credit cards to purchase a large amount of gift cards from Sam’s Club nearby. The fraudulent transactions totaled over $10,000.
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the subject captured on video. The suspect was described as a middle-aged white male, last seen wearing a camouflage jacket and baseball cap. Bank Robbery 12/27/2022

On December 19, 2022, at approximately 9:11 a.m., Champaign Police Officers responded to the First Financial Bank located at 1205 South Neil Street for reports of a bank robbery. Upon arrival, officers learned a suspect entered the bank, displayed a note indicating the presence of a handgun, and demanded money. The suspect fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of currency.
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the subject captured on video. The suspect was described as a white male with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black hat, white face mask, dark blue vest, long-sleeved gray shirt, jeans, and black gloves. The suspect may have left the area in a maroon sport utility vehicle.
Investigators are asking any businesses or residents with surveillance cameras to review the footage for any persons or vehicles captured in the area either prior to or after the incident.
Attempted Theft and Criminal Damage - 12/19/22

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding Attempted Theft and Criminal Damage. On November 21, 2022, during the overnight hours, someone attempted to steal two classic cars from Two Lane Motors located at 903 South Prairieview Road in Mahomet. The offenders were unsuccessful in stealing the cars but committed extensive damage in their attempt.

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a robbery.
On October 30, 2022, at 2:10 a.m., a male victim was walking in the 300 block of East Green St. in Champaign when someone came up behind him and grabbed food out of his hand. The victim pursued the offender who then, with three additional offenders, battered the victim and took his phone. The four offenders fled west on Green St, and were captured on video.

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding an aggravated battery.
On September 17, 2022, at approximately 7:45 p.m., two males battered a third male inside One Stop Food and Liquor, located at 701 North Neil Street in Champaign. Officers have identified one of the suspects but are asking for assistance in identifying the other suspect captured on video.
The unidentified suspect appeared to be a black male, last seen wearing a gray Super Mario Brothers t-shirt and black Adidas brand pants. The suspects left in a red sedan, possibly a Mitsubishi.
Retail Theft in the City of Champaign 11/28/2022

On November 18, 2022, at approximately 2:30 p.m., police officers were dispatched to Home Depot, located 820 Bloomington Road in Champaign. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male had attempted to steal over $1,400.00 worth of tools and fixtures but was confronted the at door by loss prevention. The male fled the area on foot.

2014 Damian Henderson Homicide - 11/14/22

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a homicide. On November 17, 2014, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Damian Henderson was believed to be shot and killed in the 0-100 block of Forsythia Drive in Champaign. The following morning, November 18, 2014, at 8.13 a.m., officers were dispatched to this location for a check welfare where Henderson was found unresponsive in a vehicle.

Champaign Burglaries - 11/7/22

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding recent burglaries. During the overnight hours of September 8, September 22, and October 14, 2022, unknown suspects entered a storage site for Three Phase Line Construction, located at 904 North Walnut Street in Champaign. Officers learned the suspects gained entry to the site by cutting a fence. Once inside, suspects stole construction equipment and tools valued at over $15,000. The suspects also damaged toolboxes attempting to pry them open. Images of a suspect and person of interest were located utilizing security camera video. Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the subjects captured on video. The suspect appears to be a black male with a medium build. The person of interest appears to be a white male with long light-brown or reddish hair, a beard, and tattoos on his neck.
Bicycle Thefts - 10-31-22

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding bicycle thefts.
Between September 12-25, 2022, multiple thefts were reported near the bicycle racks at the Campus Instructional Facility, located at 1405 West Springfield Avenue in Urbana. Images of a suspect were located utilizing security camera video.
A single suspect was determined to be responsible for at least four
of these thefts. Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying a subject captured on video. The suspect appears to be a white male with brown hair, possibly in his 30’s.
Champaign Shooting 10/24/2022
October 24, 2022
On October 4, 2022, at approximately 5:48 p.m., Champaign Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of North Third Street for a report of a shooting with injuries. Upon arrival, officers located 25-year-old Rashaud Weatherall who had sustained multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds. Officers on-scene immediately rendered medical aid with the assistance of the Champaign Fire Department. The victim was then transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Minutes after the shooting, two more victims arrived at an area hospital by personal transport. A 20-year-old male and a 28-year-old male, both from Champaign sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and were treated and released. The initial investigation indicates that the victims were standing in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Third Street, near Bradley Avenue when a vehicle approached and the occupants opened fire. The vehicle then fled the area.
Police are asking any resident or business in the nearby area with exterior surveillance cameras and/or persons with cell phone video to review the footage for any suspicious persons or vehicles captured in the area around the time of the incident. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance.
Retail Theft 10/17/2022

On October 10, 2022, at approximately 5:15 PM, two individuals entered Walmart at 100 South High Cross Road in Urbana. The individuals selected over $500 in merchandise and proceeded to the self-checkout lanes. The two suspects “skip scanned” much of the merchandise and then attempted to pay for the remainder of the items with a credit card that declined payment. They bagged all items and exited the store without rendering payment.
The first suspect was described as a white male approximately 60 years old, average height and medium build. He wore a blue hat with the letter E on it, glasses, navy blue t-shirt, blue jeans, brown wristwatch and white or grey Chuck Taylor type shoes.
The second suspect was described as a black female approximately 50 years old, average height and thin build with long hair or wig. She wore a black hat with white lettering, a multi-colored tie dye jacket, black leather or pleather pants and black shoes with white soles.
