Shoplifting at Kohls in Champaign, IL
April 09, 2018
On March 29, 2018 at approximately 9:00 p.m., four females stole over $3000 worth of merchandise from Kohl’s, located at 109 Convenience Center Rd. in Champaign. It’s believed the females left the area in a white, late model Ford sport utility vehicle.
All four suspects were black females with one described as taller,approximately 5’11”, and the remaining females all thought to be around 5’7” tall. The taller female, suspect #1, was wearing a black headscarf, black jacket and jeans. The other three females were described as follows: #2) green headscarf, blue sweater, gray pants; #3) pink zip-up sweater, black shirt, black pants; and, #4) gray sweater, blue shirt and light-colored jeans.
Burglary in the city of Urbana

On Wednesday March 7th, 2018, officers took a burglary report at Cross Construction, located at 3615 N. Countryview Road in Urbana, Illinois. The burglary took place between 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday March 6th, 2018 and 6:00 a.m. on March 7th, 2018. Unknown individual(s) gained access into construction trailers located on the property and stole several gas-powered saws and blowers that are used in construction work. The value of the stolen items is reported at approximately $6500.00.

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a burglary. Between March 17, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. and March 18, 2018 at 3:15 p.m., multiple storage units were burglarized on a large construction site located at 3301 Fields South Drive in Champaign.
Responding officers discovered that a substantial amount of materials and tools were stolen from seven storage containers, involving six construction companies. Also stolen from the site was a 16-foot Haulmark cargo trailer believed to have transported the stolen property.
Burglary in Rantoul

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a burglary. Sometime between 12:00 p.m. on March 10, 2018 and 7:30 a.m. on March 12, 2018, an unknown suspect(s) broke a window and entered the House of Flowers located at 113 E. Sangamon Ave. in Rantoul. The suspect(s) pried open a register and stole an undisclosed amount of money.
Seeking Assistance Reguarding a Shooting in Champaign

On March 8, 2018 at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Red Fox convenience store, located in the 2000-block of Market St. in Champaign, for a reported shooting. Officers responding to the area
found evidence a shooting had occurred, and a short time later a gunshot victim walked into the emergency room. Police are processing evidence from the scene and seeking to interview potential witnesses.
Armed Robbery in the City of Champaign

On February 13, 2018 officers responded to a retail theft at Target, located at 2102 N Prospect in Champaign. Further investigation revealed a male, armed with a handgun, stole over $3200 worth of electronic merchandise from a display case. It’s believed four suspects were involved, three inside and one waiting outside in a white 4-door passenger car.
The four suspects are believed to be black males and black females. The three subjects inside were wearing hooded sweatshirts, black jackets, and some type of white-washed jeans. No clothing description is available for the fourth suspect who was waiting in the vehicle.
Unknown Suspect for Forgery & Retail theft

On 11-25-17 at 18:51hrs a black male walked into the Casey’s store in Tolono and presented a fake check to a cashier. The suspect attempted to purchase multiple items totaling $177.68. The cashier took the check and noticed it was fake. The cashier called her manager about the check. The suspect while waiting for the cashier to return grabbed a 100 box count of New Ports cigarettes from the counter. He exited store without paying for them. The suspect left the fake check with the cashier. (Tolono PD case #17-24-265)
Deceptive Practices In Champaign and Urbana

Between December 1, 2017 and December 15, 2017 fraudulent checks were deposited at Chase Bank locations in Champaign and Urbana. Inevitably bank accounts were compromised and money withdrawn valuing over $4,500. The suspect is described as a black male with short hair and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance with identifying the suspect who was captured on video.
Residential Burglary in the City Of Champaign
February 20, 2018
On January 11th, 2018 officers received a report of a residential burglary that took place in the 3200 block of Valley Brook Drive, Champaign between 4:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. The suspect was captured on security video attempting to gain access to a neighboring house at 4:25 a.m. The suspect appears to be a white male, medium build, and appears to be balding with shaved or very short hair on the sides and back of his head. The suspect gained access to a residence and stole multiple items.
Residential Burglaries in Urbana

From December 2017 thru January 2018, several residential burglaries have occurred in Urbana especially throughout the southeast portion of the community. The offender(s) forced their way into homes through doors and windows, then targeted flat screen televisions, gaming systems and jewelry. During some of the residential burglaries the offender(s) took keys for vehicles parked at the homes and then stole the vehicle(s).
Most of these burglaries were committed during the day and the offender(s) utilized backyards to stay out of sight. These incidents are being actively investigated and we are encouraging our community to contact Champaign County Crime Stoppers with any information.
Motor Vehicles Burglaries in Rantoul

During the month of January 2018, police have taken more than forty reports of vehicles being entered and personal property stolen. These burglaries are occurring during the evening and overnight hours and are being committed in several different neighborhoods around town. Nearly all of the vehicles being entered have been left unlocked by the owners, allowing easy access by the suspect(s).
Crime Stoppers is reminding all vehicle owners to lock and secure your vehicles, even when parked in your own driveway.
Attempted Child Abduction
January 29, 2018
On January 23, 2018 at approximately 7:09 a.m., a 13-year-old male was walking to school when a red, 4-door pickup truck pulled up beside him and demanded he get into the vehicle while implying he had a gun. The suspect was described as a white male in his 40’s with whiskers on his chin.

Use of Stolen Credit Cards in Champaign

On January 17, 2018 two males used stolen credit cards to make purchases at County Market, located at 2901 W. Kirby, and at Piccadilly Liquor at 2202 W. John St. in Champaign. One suspect is described as a heavyset black male with glasses, wearing a black hat and plaid jacket. The second suspect is a white male with facial hair, wearing a white ball cap and black jacket.

On December 3, 2017 a female suspect used stolen credit cards to make purchases at Blue Star II located at 918 W Bradley in Champaign. The suspect is described as a black female, 30-40 years old, slightly heavyset, with short black hair.
Vehicle Burglaries in St. Joseph
January 08, 2018
On Friday November 10th, 2017, Champaign County Deputies responded to the Village of St. Joseph for reports of multiple burglaries to vehicles that occurred during the late night of November 9th and the early morning of November 10th, 2017. The suspects took multiple items that included credit cards. The credit cards were then used at the Meijer Stores in Danville, IL and Indianapolis, IN where images of the two (2) suspects were later obtained by Investigators. (Reference S17-3243)
On Friday December 15th, 2017, Champaign County Deputies responded again to the Village of St. Joseph for multiple burglaries to vehicles that occurred during the early morning hours of December 10th, 2017. Some of the items taken were a handgun and a credit card. The credit card was then used at the Danville, IL Meijer. (Reference S17-3587
Suspect #1 was a slimmer built black male in his late teens/early 20s with short black hair. He was wearing a grey crew neck sweatshirt with black sweatpants.
Suspect #2 was a slimmer built black male in his late teens/early 20s with black hair. He was wearing a gray (sleeves and hood) and green (body) hooded sweatshirt, with the hood up. He was also wearing gray colored sweatpants with a black stripe on the side.
Deceptive Practice

On October 12, 2017 at approximately 12:33 p.m. a suspect entered Regions Bank located at 111 S. State Street in Champaign and withdrew $4,500 from the victim’s account.
The suspect is a black male approximately 5’06-5’10 inches tall, 160-175 pounds, has long dreads which were pulled back in a pony tail, and he has a chin strap goatee. The suspect showed identification for the transaction which is believed to be a fake ID
Purse Snatching in Champaign
December 26, 2017
On Thursday 12/14/17 at approximately 11:45AM a 73-year-old woman was walking to her vehicle in a parking lot in the 2100 block of West Springfield in Champaign when a suspect approached her from behind and forcibly took her purse from her. The suspect ran north toward Gramercy Park Apartments in the 2100 block of West White Street.
The suspect is described as a younger male, 6'00 tall, 180 pounds, wearing a dark colored jacket or sweatshirt with the hood up and blue jeans. Suspects later attempted to use the victim's credit card at an ATM in the 900 block of West Bradley Avenue in Champaign and then again at an ATM located inside the Conoco gas station at 1202 N. Mattis Avenue.
Armed Robbery of Circle K in Champaign

On December 10, 2017 at 11:57 a.m., a male suspect pointed a handgun at an employee at the Circle K, located at 59 E. Green St. in Champaign, and demanded money. The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money
and merchandise from the store.
The suspect was described as a black male, 20-30 years of age, 6’ tall with a goatee. He was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, grey sweatpants, white shoes, and was carrying a black backpack.
Armed Robbery of Lucky Star Food and Liquor in Champaign
December 11, 2017
On Saturday November 25th, 2017 at 11:36 p.m., Champaign County Deputies responded to “Lucky Star Food and Liquor” at 2108 E. University Ave. in Urbana for an armed robbery that just occurred. Three (3) suspects entered the store wearing masks, and held the employee at gun point, while they took U.S. currency, a black Cobra GPS, alcohol, and scratch-off lottery tickets.
The 3 suspects then left the store and climbed over the fence located on the east side of the business which led into Woodland Acres Mobile Home Park (2200 E. University Ave) where it is believed their vehicle was parked. The
vehicle (unknown colored SUV) exited Woodland Acres and turned eastbound onto University Ave.
Suspect #1 was a medium built black male wearing a black cloth covering his face, a red stocking cap, a black colored hooded jacket, white gloves, dark colored pants, black or grey shoes. The suspect displayed a black handgun
which he pointed at the employee.

Shooting at Country Brook Apartments in Champaign

On November 25, 2017 at approximately 4:10 AM, Champaign Police Officers responded to the 2500 block of W. Springfield Ave., (Country Brook Apartments) after receiving a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, police
found a 28-year-old male, later identified as Martrell Johnson, who had sustained a gunshot wound. Johnson was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Information has been developed,
which indicates the shooting occurred outside; however, it stemmed from an argument that took place inside a nearby apartment.
